Sometimes you run into problems with your braces. Broken or loose brackets and wires, loose bands, or wires sticking out can all pop up. At best, these problems are annoying, at worse, they can jeopardize your care.
If you are experiencing any of these issues, call our team to discuss the proper course of action. Sometimes you will need to come in right away to repair the damage; other times we can tell you how you can repair it yourself, or wait until your next appointment. If you are not experiencing discomfort and the problem does not interfere with your treatment plan, Dr. Phan may hold off on repairs until your next scheduled appointment. However, calling soon after the damage has been done is vital to ensuring proper care, as some damage can be problematic to your treatment. Don’t hesitate to call Phan Orthodontics. We do not charge for broken wires, brackets, or extra X-rays that occur during your treatment.
If the physical complication arose from an injury, seek help immediately. Dr. Derick Phan will let you know what immediate action needs to be taken, or if the problem can wait.
Sometimes Dr. Phan will adjust, re-attach, or reposition the wires or brackets; sometimes we will replace them. Whatever the required treatment, it will take some time. Please call our office before your appointment and explain the situation, to ensure that we schedule enough time for the repairs.
